Orange & Pink & Inks, Oh My!!! – Unity Stamp Co. Be Inspired Challenge

Hi there!  Thanks for stopping by!

About a week ago, I received a shipment of terrific rubber stamps from Unity Stamp Co.!  They are very nice, deeply etched rubber stamps of great quality!  I was just itching to use them and found the perfect opportunity!  I was looking on their website yesterday and found that they have a monthly challenge called “Be Inspired”!  They provide a scrapbook page sketch, a card sketch and a color palette.  You can follow any of those exactly or loosely, your choice!  AWESOME!  So I decided to follow the card sketch loosely and concentrated on the wonderful color palette which included…beige, black, orange & pinks!  It was great fun to use those colors and one of my new Unity stamp sets!!!

For this card, I used the following supplies:  a 12 x 12 piece of Recollections beige cardstock, black cardstock, a 12 x 12 piece of hot pink printed paper by Bo Bunny, a piece of fun dotted paper (sorry my pic below shows striped…changed my mind after the photo…lol) from the 6×6 Painted Blooms paper pad by Penny Black, a small piece of watercolor paper, Black Onyx Versafine Ink pad, Clear Embossing powder, Tim Holtz Distress Stain in Antique Linen & Spiced Marmalade, Tim Holtz Distress Ink pads in the same colors and Tim Holtz Distress Markers in Black Soot, Picked Raspberry & Spiced Marmalade!

I began by inking the large flower stamp in Unity’s Take Care of You stamp set.  I used the Picked Raspberry Marker to color the background of the stamp & then colored in the flower with the Spiced Marmalade marker.  Using a water brush, I applied water generously over the watercolor paper and applied some Antique Linen Distress Stain to make the background more beige than white.  I applied a bit more water and then stamped the image.  Note:  instead of a water brush, you can mist the watercolor paper with a mini mister.  After that piece was good and dry, I applied the Black Versafine ink to the stamp, lightly stamped off on some scrap paper and then stamped on top of the colored image.

I then cut the stamped image with a stitched rectangle die from My Favorite Things, and then backed it with a small black mat.  (Once that stamped image was cut down, I used the Antique Linen Distress Stain to go around the edges as needed.)  Next, I used the black Versafine ink to stamp the “Happiness has no limit” from the same set, covered with clear embossing powder and heat set with my Marvy heat tool.  This piece was trimmed down and inked with the Spiced Marmalade Distress Stain.  The edges were then inked using the Picked Raspberry Distress ink pad & blender tool.

Finally, I cut down the following pieces for assembly:  Base card – Beige cardstock cut to 12 x 5 (scored at 6″), Black background piece 5 3/4 x 4 3/4, Pink printed background piece 5 1/2 x 4 1/2, and dotted Penny Black paper 3 x 4 1/2.  Before assembling, I used the Picked Raspberry Distress ink pad & blender tool to ink around the edges of the pink background paper and the dotted Penny Black paper piece.  During final assembly, I decided to pop dot the stamped image.

I sure hope you enjoyed this project!   (Sorry for the long post!  I have got to learn to do a YouTube video but I’m not brave enough for that yet!  Please bear with me until I am!)

Until next time, share the Joy!
