Grateful for…

Hi there!

There are so many things and people that I am grateful for in my life!!!  Today I created a little card to give to my sister Kim…she takes such great care of me!!  She is always doing so much for me!!!

This little “thank you” card features the Blossoming Buds Stamp Set and the coordinating Blossom Icons Die at Paper Smooches.

I stamped these adorable blossoming buds on watercolor paper using Black Onyx VersaFine ink.  After heat-setting the ink, I did a light Tumbled Glass inking of the background around the stamped image.  I then colored the flowers and leaves with the following Tim Holtz distress inks:  Mustard Seed, Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn, and Spiced Marmalade.

I created the card base using the Pinpoint Scalloped circles die from Memory Box and inked it using the Tumbled Glass distress ink.  Here’s a tip:  to leave that white border around the edge, ink the die while it is still in the die.  I then cut a label die from Elizabeth Craft’s Katie Label set.  I inked it with Spiced Marmalade and then stamped the “Grateful” and “for you” stamps out of the Blossoming Buds stamp set.

I used foam tape to pop up the floral stamped piece to give the card a little bit of dimension.  The curved design of the floral stamp works perfectly on the circle card.  I’m pretty happy with the way this turned out so I’m going to be entering it into the Paper Smooches weekly challenge!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project!  Please let me know if you have any questions!  Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time, Be Happy!!!

Deconstructed Floral Fusion

Hi everyone!  I’m back with another card for the My Favorite Things Card challenge!

For this card, I wanted to take one of my favorite My Favorite Things dies called Floral Fusion Cover up and find a different way to use it!  It is designed to cover the background of an A2 sized card.  So instead of using the whole thing, I used only 2″ of it to create a side border.

I Pick You (3)

Then, to create my focal point flower, I cut away the round flower in the leftover piece not used for my side border.  I also cut another round flower out of an extra diecut to have for the top layer to my flower.  I used Dylusions Spray ink in Lemon Zest to color them yellow.  I then inked the edges with Tim Holtz Wild Honey distress ink.  To finish it off, I put some cotton thread in the middle of a button and placed it in the center of the flower.  I also cut two medium leaves from My Favorite Things Upsy Daisy flower dies and inked the edges with Tim Holtz Mowed Lawn distress ink.

I Pick You (2)On a small tag from my “stash”, I stamped the “I Pick You” sentiment from My Favorite Things Heart Strings set.  I assembled the half border, the flower and the tag on to a piece of scrap green “printed” paper.  I used dimensional adhesive for the flower and the tag…after applying the black and white gingham ribbon.

I Pick YouIt was really fun to find a new way to use this Floral Fusion die!  Give it a try on your dies and have some fun!  Until next time, Be Happy!!!

Feline Better Dimensional Card

Hi there!

Yesterday I created a different sort of card for my 2nd entry into the SuperStar Card Contest by My Favorite Things! I’m going to save this one and send it to my cousin after she undergoes her breast cancer surgery in a few months. She is a big time animal lover and especially loves her kitty cats! As soon as I saw the Feline Better stamp kit by My Favorite Things, I knew I had to make a card for her!

Feline Better

I created the “3-D” card front by cutting a piece of white cardstock at 4 1/4″ x 11″ and I scored it at 2 3/4″ and 8 1/4″. Then, on the “flaps”, I cut down the fold just to the point where the top of the fence would be. After completing the card front, I attached it to a standard 4 1/4″ x 5″ white card base.

In addition to the “Feline Better” stamp set and coordinating die set, I used the following dies by My Favorite Things: Blueprints 5 (tag for the Feline Better sentiment), Woodgrain fence & Fresh Cut Grass.

I used the following Copic markers for the little girl and kitty: E000, E15, E18, E25, Y21, R81, V15 & V17.

For the background, I used Tim Holtz Distress inks: Tumbled Glass and Shabby Shutters. I also used the Shabby Shutters to ink the grass.

I hope you enjoy this little card as much as I enjoyed making it! Please let me know if you have any questions. Until next time, Happy Crafting!

Flowers may fade…

…but they last forever in our memories!  A quick post before going to bed tonight!  I wanted to share a card that I made this evening for a coworker whose Mom has passed away.   I wanted to go with a very soft, subtle look for this sympathy card.

The printed paper is from an Our Daily Bread paper pack,  the popped up printed and cream center were cut using My Favorite Things Cross-stitched Oval Stax dies.  For the flower, I used My Favorite Things Large Leafy Flourish die cut from watercolor paper (with a small bit trimmed from the bottom to better fit the oval).  I used my Tim Holtz water brush by Ranger to wet the leafy flourish die…I then used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush watercolor markers in mid green (no 046) and violet (no 080).  I finished it up with a small piece of a light greenish colored ribbon that I had on hand.

Thanks for stopping by!  Until next time, be happy!
